Lastly, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!!

「Happy」Holidays!!
I realized that I haven't drawn for a long time already. I started this picture back in September but I never got a chance to finish it due to school work. I completely forgot about it until I cleaned my desk 2 days ago, and so I finished it just now. This is Happy Sir from Highs and Lows, hope you like it...

TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Results
Overall, the results are quite satisfying. All the awards are evenly distributed among many series
The 3 most surprising results of the night:
1. Wayne Lai won Best Actor (for the 3rd time)
2. When Heaven Burns won Best Series
3. Raymond Lam went home empty-handed!!
Lifetime Achievement Award: Liza Wang
Most Improved Female Artiste: Mandy Wong
Most Improved Male Artiste: Oscar Leung
Congratulation to Gwan Yi Gor and Gwan Yi So!! Very well-deserved win!!
Best Host: Luisa Maria Leitao (Telling Maria)
Outstanding Artistes: Chin Ka Lok, Benz Hui, Sunny Chan, Lee Sing Cheung, Dodo Cheng
This is probably the best part of the awards show. Even though this is just pork, I do hope that TVB will keep this award for next year. It's very nice seeing them getting recognized for their hard work over the years. I'm especially happy for Benz Hui and Lee Sing Cheung. They are two of my favorite supporting actors, never tired of seeing them onscreen. Congratz!!
My Favorite Female Character: Kate Tsui as Chan Ka Bik (Highs and Lows)
Kate: "The term 'most favorite' has always been really distant to me because there was a time I was disliked by the audience. I never thought that I would be liked by the audience. Thank you for the votes of 3000-4000 workers at TVB. Earlier when I was walking here, someone from the audio department reminded me to thank them because he said that everyone in the department has voted for me." Congratulations Kate Tsui!! It seems that the character Chan Ka Bik is the turning point of her career.
My Favorite Male Character: Kenneth Ma as Cheung Yat Kin (The Hippocratic Crush)
Kenneth: "I don't know since when everyone started to think that getting the Favorite award means that you're not getting the Best award, so everyone seems like they don't really want this. But I can tell you, if no one wants this award, I don't mind taking it every year." Ma Ming seemed shaky. I bet he was really nervous. Anyways, congratz Yat Kin Tau!!
Best Supporting Actress: Nancy Wu (Gloves Come Off)
Congratulations to Nancy for winning her third Best Supporting Actress award this year. This is a great year for her. I have rooted for Nancy to get Best Supporting since 2010, and she finally gets it this year. Now that Nancy is awarded, next one to root for is Elena Kong.
Best Supporting Actor: Koo Ming Wah (Divas in Distress)
I was rooting for Power Chan but I'm fine with Koo Ming Wah winning too. Afterall, his So Gei has generated such an uproar in HK. It was very kind of Koo Lou to ask Power if he had anything to say when they were on stage together, very humble!! I feel that every year I'm always most satisfied with the winning in the Best Supporting Actor category. This is a good sign :)
Best Informative Program: Pilgrimage of Hope
Best Variety Program: Map of Happiness
Best Actress: Tavia Yeung (Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles)
(Top 5: Charmaine Sheh, Linda Chung, Kate Tsui, Tavia Yeung, Michelle Yim)
Expected Tavia to win and she won. Congratz Tavia, your hard work has really paid off!! I love how the moment she heard her name, she burst into tears. And I also love how Elena Kong and Mary Hon came down to hug her. Elena was crying too. Such a loving Chung family. The camera was purposedly focused on Him Law many times and I also saw he had tears in his eyes. Him Him is so emotional ~~ too bad Tavia didn't mention him, but oh well...
Best Actor: Wayne Lai (The Confidant)
(Top 5: Kenneth Ma, Moses Chan, Raymond Lam, Damian Lau, Wayne Lai)
Congratz to Wayne for his third time winning Best Actor, that makes him equal to Gallen Lo. This result actually came out quite surprising, since I was expecting Raymond to take this. But in the end, it seems that Wayne's fan base is larger. Or am I just underestimating him this whole time? As for me, I go by the motto: When you don't know who to vote for, go for Wayne!!
Best Series: When Heaven Burns
(Top 3: When Heaven Burns, The Hippocratic Crush, The Confidant)
You have no idea how happy I was when WHB was announced Best Series!! This is probably the most shocking win to most people, as WHB has the second lowest ratings in 2012, moreover, it was aired a year ago. Too bad that most of the casts were not there in the awards show, and Chik Ki Yee and Chow Yuk Ming were probably shocked too since they didn't say much either. Anyways, it's nice to know that so many people supported WHB. Very deserving win!!
"OMG... I can't believe I didn't win anything..."
"Oh well, at least I got one"
Hmm... Kenneth looked shocked/disappointed? when Wayne was announced Best Actor...
Bromance FTW!!

Slap. Slap. Slap. (2)
Continue from the last post about slapping scenes in TVB drama. I was hoping for a male version, but since there's none at the moment, let's enjoy the famous slapping scene from Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles.
Damian slaps Vincent 13 times, and Vincent slaps himself 19 times more. That's 32 in total!! O_o
So currently Vincent is holding both the records of slapping and getting slapped the most!! And all the slaps are on him ~~ poor guy =.=' he must have offended the scriptwriter and director.

Slap. Slap. Slap.
A compilation of slapping scenes in TVB drama. Enjoy ~~

- Total slaps counted: 138
- Person who slaps the most: Kingdom Yuen (11 slaps)
- Person who gets slapped the most: Myolie Wu (12 slaps) ~~ poor girl =.=
- Most continuous slaps: Kingdom Yuen in The Beauty of the Game (10 slaps). Poor Christine Ng ~~
- Drama with the most slaps counted:
1. The Beauty of the Game (12 slaps)
2. Moonlight Resonance (11 slaps)
3. Curse of the Royal Harem (10 slaps)
4. House of Harmony and Vengeance (9 slaps)
I guess it's tough being a TVB actress eh?!
Hopefully someone will do a male version soon. Damian Lau and Vincent Wong will definitely be in it.

TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Nomination: Most Improved Female Artiste
Unlike in the Most Improved Male Artiste category, I see no competition here, at all!!
Eliza Sam
- Eliza showed potential as an actress in her first major role in Divas in Distress. She did fine for her part, though her acting is still very raw and seems to be overdramatic sometimes. However, considering that it was only her second time acting, she deserves praises. Eliza can wait a year or two so she can try out different roles first before she can get Most Improved.
Christine Kuo
- Christine was in 2 series this year and she was horrible in both series. The fact that she ruined a big chunk of Ghetto Justice II and Tiger Cubs was enough for me to avoid her series in the near future. She should improve her Cantonese and try to control her voice in those crying scenes. Maybe then she will become more tolerable. As for now, Most Improved?? Nahh!!
Mandy Wong
- Mandy shows diversity in her acting, although she seems to be more comfortable in those strong female roles. Nonetheless, her acting is consistent and she is the strongest one among the 5 nominees.
Cilla Kung
- Cilla seems to be stuck in those little sister roles, which is starting to make her acting dull. Cilla this year seems no difference from Cilla last year. In fact, last year she still managed to impress me with her short appearance in Forensic Heroes III. This year, none of her roles so far really captures my attention. As for Most Improved, she can wait.
Katy Kung
- Katy is another actress that I think has potential. However, so far she also seems to be stuck in one type of character. She is very young (just turned 23) and still has a lot of time to improve and try different roles. She's in no rush of getting this award.
There is someone else that I think should have been nominated in place of Christine Kuo and that is JJ Jia. JJ is in a lot of series this year and I think she is decent as an actress, at least more tolerable.
Predictions
Winner: Mandy Wong
- I don't think anyone will have problem with Mandy winning. This is her year. In fact, I would be really shocked if Mandy won't win.
Poll from TVB Forum
TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Nomination: Most Improved Male Artiste
Competition is fierce in this category, especially among Oscar, Edwin and Him.
Vincent Wong
- Vincent has more chance to show off his acting skill this year. In Wish and Switch, he is the second male lead. In Tiger Cubs, his memorable scene at the end generated heated discussion among the audience. In Silver Spoons, Sterling Shackles, his acting skill gained recognition and even got nominated for this year Best Supporting Actor. Vincent has charm and no doubt can act. However, the timing is off for him this year as he is up against some strong competitors.
King Kong
- King Kong is decent as an actor but his biggest weak point is his Cantonese. Starring in 3 series and 4 variety shows, King Kong is definitely working hard this year. Not to mention this poor guy has been the bully target of Eric Tsang whenever they host shows together. Sympathy points anyone?
Oscar Leung
- Oscar comes out as one of the biggest surprises this year. At the beginning of the year, Oscar generated some buzz by portraying a useless, immature brother in L'Escargot. Later in Tiger Cubs, he continued to impress the audience with his charm and acting skill. Who could ever forget the trademark wink of our beloved sniper? Oscar currently hopes to leave one last impression on the audience before the awards show by taking on the role of Emperor Tongzhi in The Confidant. He is no doubt a strong contender for this year Most Improved.
Edwin Siu
- Acting wise, Edwin is probably the strongest one among the 5 nominees. This year, he showed great potential in both comedy and villainous roles. Edwin also earns himself some lead roles in upcoming series. His most memorable role this year is probably Ah Yap from Daddy Good Deeds, which is also nominated for the Best Supporting category. But since this series was aired earlier this year, will the forgetful audience still remember how great he was?
Him Law
- It's his physique that kills!! And to top that off, Him is also a decent actor, not to mention his romance with one of the hot favorites for this year TV Queen, even though by no means this should ever be considered as a factor that can influence one's chance of getting the award. Among the 5 nominees, Him probably has the greatest news value. However, none of his roles this year are that outstanding and memorable.
Predictions
Winner: Him Law
- A poll from TVB forum shows that Oscar, Edwin and Him have roughly the same number of supporters. However, TVB will probably see the greatest marketing value from Him.

TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Nomination: My Favorite Female Character
Charmaine Sheh as Hazel Yip Chi Yan (When Heaven Burns)
- One of Charmaine's most interesting roles so far, and of course also one of my favorites
Niki Chow as Tsui Sum (Bottled Passion)
- Milk Candy was ok, not on my favorite list though.
Tavia Yeung as Fan Chi Yu (The Hippocratic Crush)
- Definitely one of my favorite characters of this year. Like Onion said: "I love Yu"
Fala Chen as Chung Mo Yim (Queens of Diamonds and Hearts)
- Errrrrrr.................... no thanks!!
Myolie Wu as Kris Wong Sze Fu (Ghetto Justice II)
- There's something about this Kris character that really irks me.
Kristal Tin as Yim Sam Leung (King Maker)
- Both of her roles in King Maker and No Good Either Way are likable. If I have to choose one though, I would pick this role since she reminds me of Sheren Tang in No Regrets.
Eliza Sam as Hannah Heung Lai Hing (Divas in Distress)
- Sorry but I think I like Hannah's mother more.
Kate Tsui as Pat Chan Ka Bik (Highs and Lows)
- Likable for the first half, annoying for the second half, but interesting as a whole
Tavia Yeung as Hong Tze Kwan (Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles)
- I hear TVB screaming "Tavia must win something!!" lol... idk, don't really like this character so far.
Michelle Yim as Cixi (The Confidant)
- This Cixi is too good for my like (so far!!)
Predictions
Top 5: Charmaine Sheh, Tavia Yeung, Myolie Wu, Kate Tsui, and Tavia Yeung (I have a feeling that this would happen, again!!)
Winner: Kate Tsui

TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Nomination: My Favorite Male Character
No matter how you look at it, this is still a consolation for losing the Best award. Although in some rare occasion, TVB may give it to the same artiste to prove that they are not dividing pork.
Kenneth Ma as Cheung Yat Kin (The Hippocratic Crush)
- Yat Kin Tau is just lovable in general, enough said.
Bobby Au Yeung as Kiu Bo Lung (House of Harmony and Vengeance)
- Sadly, he's just nominated for the sake of being nominated. And no, I don't like his character either.
Bosco Wong as Hui Wai Sam (Witness Insecurity)
- Haven't watched much of Hui Sir but I'm pretty sure he's one of the more likable ones on the list.
Kevin Cheng as Law Lik Ah (Ghetto Justice II)
- After GJ2, the love and respect I originally had for Law Ba all vanished. Good job TVB!!
Moses Chan as Miu Tin (The Last Steep Ascent)
- Sorry but I love Hak Jai/Angus from When Heaven Burns more.
Michael Miu as Gordon Heung Wing (Highs and Lows)
- Gordon was just so interesting to watch. I love that his character remains good in the end.
Raymond Lam as Happy Wai Sai Lok (Highs and Lows)
- This Happy is not that happy to me. Sorry but I don't really like his character.
Damian Lau as Arthur Chung Cheuk Man (Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles)
- Ehh?! His harem is just disgusting!!
Wayne Lai as Li Lin Ying (The Confidant)
- The (a bit more) masculine version of Lau Sam Ho --- not my like at the moment.
Raymond Wong as Yiu Seung Hei (The Confidant)
- For now, his character is likeable but his storyline doesn't do him justice.
Predictions
Top 5: Kenneth Ma, Bosco Wong, Kevin Cheng, Raymond Lam, Wayne Lai
Winner: Kenneth Ma
- I have a feeling that Kenneth will walk away with at least something.
Poll from TVB Forum
TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Nomination: Best Supporting Actress
Mandy Wong (L'Escargot)
- She seems to be good at playing loud-mouthed character eh?! Indeed, she was good here in LE but was quite unnatural in DID.
Nancy Wu (Gloves Come Off)
- Excellent performance for an unimportant role in a male-oriented series (does that make sense?!)
Rachel Kan (Master of Play)
- Good to see her getting nominated but her chance of getting the award is close to 0 ~~
Mary Hon (Three Kingdoms RPG)
- She was hilarious in Three Kingdoms RPG but I agree with many people who think that she should be nominated for SSSS instead. She was great there. In fact, she has always been a reliable veteran.
Christine Kuo (Ghetto Justice II)
- Thank you for partially ruining GJ2 for me!!
Florence Kwok (King Maker)
- Florence is awesome this year. From Let It Be Love to No Good Either Way to King Maker, she gave an outstanding performance. Sadly, she won't be taking any award soon.
Eliza Sam (Divas in Distress)
- Isn't it a bit too early for her to be here? I feel that Mimi Chu should be nominated instead.
Law Lan (The Last Steep Ascent)
- She was great in TLSA as a cute mother-in-law. Her performance was truly enjoyable.
Elena Kong (Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles)
- I love Elena ever since the first time I saw her onscreen. She's great in every role and it's no exception in SSSS. Wonderful performance!!
Aimee Chan (The Confidant)
- Too bubbly for my like but since TVB is promoting her like crazy, we have no choice but to accept it. Again, remove this nomination and bring her Best Actress nomination for TLSA here.
Other actresses that should be nominated but sadly aren't: Rebecca Chan and Elaine Yiu from Bottled Passion, and Joyce Tang from L'Escargot.
Predictions
Top 5: Mandy Wong, Nancy Wu, Law Lan, Elena Kong, Aimee Chan
Winner: Nancy Wu
- TVB is probably (and hopefully!!) pressured by the fact that Nancy won the Best Supporting Actress award at the 17th Asian Television Awards for the same role.
Poll from TVB Forum
TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Nomination: Best Supporting Actor
Now this list is even more interesting than the Best Actor list!!
Oscar Leung (L'Escargot)
- That outrageous slap he gave Mandy's character was still memorable to me. Yes, Oscar was good in LE, but I think I like him more in Tiger Cubs.
Him Law (The Hippocratic Crush)
- Him's character in THC was likable but it didn't put his acting to the test. He's decent in my opinion.
Edwin Siu (Daddy Good Deeds)
- Ah Yap was just too funny in DGD, truly the star of the show.
Ram Chiang (Witness Insecurity)
- Ram is a good actor and I know it. It's just that I haven't watched much of him in WI so I can't say much. He was awesome in Wish and Switch too.
Jazz Lam (Ghetto Justice II)
- I feel that Jazz was losing steam in GJ2, nevertheless, he was good. It's a different side of him that we don't usually get to see.
Koo Ming Wah (Divas in Distress)
- We usually see him in the background in every series, but now we all know his name. That's just impressive!! Koo Ming Wah really stood out in DID and even overshadowed the leads of the show.
Kenny Wong (The Last Steep Ascent)
- Kenny was alright in TLSA. I think he showed even more emotions than Moses did.
Vincent Wong (Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles)
- Vincent has always been a decent actor and he did good in SSSS too, though I don't think the role really suits him.
Power Chan (The Confidant)
- I adore him so much in TC. He is what makes TC enjoyable for me at the moment. Power has always been a good actor, it's just that he's often stuck with roles that didn't do him justice.
Elliot Ngok (The Confidant)
- From what I have seen so far, his character is pretty one-note, just evil, evil and more evil.
I really want to see Joel Chan on this list. He was awesome in TLSA. Who else? Ah yes, Lee Shing Cheung. He's one of the saving factors of Three Kingdoms RPG, and he was good in King Maker too. Last but not least, people seem to have forgotten Eric Li from Bottled Passion ~~ quite sad!!
Predictions
Top 5: Oscar Leung, Him Law, Edwin Siu, Koo Ming Wah, Power Chan
Winner: Power Chan
- It's probably time for TVB to recognize the talented but underrated supporting actor who is often referred to as Wayne Lai #2 (even my family mixed them up!!)

TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Nomination: Best Actress
Charmaine Sheh (When Heaven Burns)
- Definitely one of the strongest performances this year. She truly impressed me in WHB.
Niki Chow (Bottled Passion)
- Let's face it, Niki's acting is probably one of the weakest in BP. Her crying scenes still seem so forced to me. And her voice sounded so whiny for some reason in BP.
Fala Chen (Queens of Diamonds and Hearts)
- Hmmm..... how about no?! Fala was OTT in QODAH. Too bad that this is her only series this year.
Linda Chung (Witness Insecurity)
- From the bits and pieces I watched, I found Linda rather awkward in the role.
Myolie Wu (Ghetto Justice II)
- I don't see any difference in her performance comparing to last year, though I admit that she's good at playing lawyer.
Liza Wang (Divas in Distress)
- Good or bad, it's a tradition that Liza is nominated. Well, she did ok in DID, not her best though
Aimee Chan (The Last Steep Ascent)
- This nomination puzzles me for the longest time, and it still does!! Now I'm not saying that Aimee did bad, she did ok in fact, but her character is more of a supporting.
Kate Tsui (Highs and Lows)
- Kate was good in HAL but not best. She improved a lot in her acting, despite some inconsistency. However, her sudden surge of popularity really caught me off guard.
Tavia Yeung (Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles)
- Everyone is saying it's Tavia's year and I see that too. This is her year. I haven't watched a whole lot of SSSS yet but she was at least consistent in her performance. If Myolie can get it last year, I don't see why Tavia can't.
Michelle Yim (The Confidant)
- Michelle has little to do from what I have seen so far. I can't really comment.
Where is Maggie Cheung? She's the main character, not Aimee!! And Jessica Hsuan? If Joe Ma is nominated for Best Actor, I don't see why Jessica can't be. She deserves a spot on the Best list more than him. And finally, Maggie Siu also deserves to be nominated.
Predictions
Top 5: Linda Chung, Myolie Wu, Kate Tsui, Tavia Yeung, Michelle Yim
Winner: Tavia Yeung
Poll from TVB Forum
TVB 45th Anniversary Awards Nomination: Best Actor
Kenneth Ma (The Hippocratic Crush)
- I hate to say this but the best acting from Kenneth this year is not from THC but from Three Kingdoms RPG!! It's not that Kenneth wasn't good in THC but he was inconsistent at times. It's the better quality script of THC and the likeableness of his character Yat Kin Tau that make it seem otherwise. But since he's nominated for this role and just by looking solely at this role, I don't think he's ready for Best Actor.
Roger Kwok (Queens of Diamonds and Hearts)
- Roger was OTT in QODAH from beginning to end, except for a few episodes near the end where he took on the role of Chung Mo Yim. But since TVB is short on talents (I'm not saying that Roger isn't talented though) and in a way they wanted to make this list seem 'heavier', they would automatically throw in Roger. So basically Roger is just nominated for the sake of being nominated.
Kevin Cheng (Gloves Come Off)
- Kevin is nominated for the correct role. I remember I said that he acted better in GCO than in Ghetto Justice, then he was even worse in GJ2 so this is the right nomination. Judging from his performance in GCO, I think he deserves a spot on the nomination list. But Best Actor? Not quite!!
Raymond Wong (Gloves Come Off)
- Ray Wong should be nominated for his role in Bottled Passion instead. His acting in GCO was good too but he was better in BP.
Joe Ma (Tiger Cubs)
- Joe was bland in Tiger Cubs, both his acting and his character. In fact, Joe in Tiger Cubs was just for show. There was nothing memorable about his performance. And I don't think the role required much acting from him either.
Bosco Wong (Witness Insecurity)
- From the little bits and pieces I watched, Bosco had little to do so no comment.
Moses Chan (The Last Steep Ascent)
- Moses' performance in TLSA was inadequate. He should be nominated for his role in When Heaven Burns instead. But since this award is decided by audience vote, there's no difference because what most people care about is the artiste himself and not his performance in that particular series. Again, wrong nomination so no Best Actor for Moses.
Raymond Lam (Highs and Lows)
- Raymond gave a rather disappointing performance in HAL. I expected more from him. In recent years, his acting seems to have downgraded. This is not Raymond's year, in term of performance.
Damian Lau (Silver Spoon, Sterling Shackles)
- Haven't watched enough of him in SSSS to fairly comment on his performance.
Wayne Lai (The Confidant)
- Haven't watched a whole lot of TC yet but from what I have seen so far, Wayne was good.
Bowie Lam from WHB, Adam Cheng from MOP and Michael Miu from HAL should also be on this nomination list for their brilliant performances in their respective series.
Predictions
Top 5: Kenneth Ma, Moses Chan, Raymond Lam, Damian Lau, Wayne Lai
Winner: Raymond Lam. Cuz his fans say so.

Highs and Lows: Ending thoughts
I skipped so much of this that I don't think I'll write a review for it, but I managed to catch the finale so here's a few thoughts I have...
BOOM BANG BOOM... *scream*...*sob*... BOOM BANG... *scream*...*scream**... BANG BOOM... *sob**scream*... *sob* [insert ending song here]... BOOM BANG... *scream*... *scream*... BANG BOOM... *scream*...*sob*... BOOM BANG BOOM... *scream*...*sob*... [insert ending song here]
I can go on but that's my overall impression on the finale in case you're wondering. There's not much difference comparing to other police drama (ie. Tiger Cubs) but the idea of Pat escaping the explosion here is more believable than how Chin Sir escaped the explosion back in TC, so I guess producer Lam Chi Wah kinda learned his lesson.
Let's begin with MC Jin. His character was pretty much useless from beginning to end. And his death was just plain stupid. Seriously, what a stupid way to die!! I didn't feel much for him.
Well, I meant... it was Pat's fault for recklessly running out like that. Sure she survived the explosion but the next minute she just technically threw away her life just to tell Poon Sir "Hey dude, this is your baby. I don't want to kill him myself because I just can't, but since I hate you so much, why not just let you kill him for me? And since you're killing your own son, I got my revenge so haha" But in the end, the baby survived so I guess it's still Poon Sir who got the last laugh. Very satisfying eh?
But in the end, Pat got to die in Happy's arm so I guess that's like a consolation for what she's been through?! Anyways, it could have been much better if they killed her in a more... um... logical way?!
Gordon's death was touching indeed. After so many things he did, I guess death was the most fitting ending for him. All his speeches to Happy in this last episode were quite touching, and his funeral scene was really sad too, like when Helen put the ring on for him...
My favorite moment? Hmm... I don't know, but it's probably when Hong Sir (Patrick Dunn) spotted the criminal on Poon Sir's boat with his binocular and did nothing about it, then later just watched him exploded right in front of his eyes. HELL YEAH.... That's the boss of the police for ya!!
(~~sorry... no cap for this scene~~)
Thank God Happy Sir and Sandy didn't end up together!! It just wouldn't make sense if Happy suddenly fell in love with Sandy after like... 29.5 episodes he'd been in love with Pat!! And that bubble scene is just way beyond lame!!
The special appearance of the Tiger Cubs cast was... well, not exactly how I wanted it to be. I would like it much better if they appeared as the SDU and helped out in an operation or something, but then I guess they can't steal the lime light away from the main cast so this is the path they had to take: quitting their position as the cooler-looking SDU members and transfered here to get bossed around by Sandy... ai-yah!! I seriously don't like seeing my favorite sniper doing this... noooooooo......
Last scene: Happy Sir with Pat's and Poon Sir's son (lol... how much does that annoys you?! :P)
Performance wise, I think Raymond OTT in a lot of scenes from beginning to end. I'm disappointed Raymond!! You used to act good. What happened to you?? Michael Miu was great though. The way he showed his conflicted mind was good. If the Best Actor award must be given to someone from HAL, I think Michael would deserve it more than Raymond. (But too bad Michael is not even nominated =.=) Kate was great too, though not perfect. I'm impressed with her crying scenes. She improved so much in showing her character's emotions. However, sometimes she still had a blank look on her face, like she didn't know how to emote in those certain scenes. But overall, it was a good performance from Kate. Ella was ok, not that good but not that bad either. I've always been neutral towards Ella, that's why I don't understand all those hypes and hopes for her before the series aired, then later just to get disappointed when her character turned out annoying. Ben Wong was great as the outright nasty Poon Sir. It's a shame that he didn't get nominated for Best Supporting. Elaine Ng was bad. This is my first time watching her and I think she was inadequate.
Lastly, if you think HAL is boring and not worth watching, consider this:
BOOM BANG BOOM... *scream*...*sob*... BOOM BANG... *scream*...*scream**... BANG BOOM... *sob**scream*... *sob* [insert ending song here]... BOOM BANG... *scream*... *scream*... BANG BOOM... *scream*...*sob*... BOOM BANG BOOM... *scream*...*sob*... [insert ending song here]
It certainly will keep you entertained, at least for the last episode!!
Another scene that I didn't feel much for - Pat and Sandy visited one another when they were hospitalized. It just feels so... wrong, and OOC too, not to mention how cheesy it was..... ack!!
Happy Sir got furious and was raging when Sandy was shot and hospitalized. But whatever the situation is, he seriously needs anger management. Look at how calm Gordon is comparing to him...
And Michael Miu was just gorgeous as Gordon. Love that smirk right there...
The famous gun-pointing scene. Again, Happy needs anger management. He's the only raging one there out of the three. Ok, I understand why he's like that, but still, he needs to control himself more.
I bet Raymond and Ella had fun filming this scene!! It looks fun already -- shooting water bottles~~
And I had fun watching this scene too thanks to Poon Sir's priceless expressions!!
The ending for each character is... well, I won't complain because I think it's a fitting ending for everyone (maybe except for Poon Sir). It makes sense considering how the story was developed and where it was heading. Don't even think about complaining how Pat couldn't survive at the end because that would just be beyond TVB magic, even Happy Sir and Sandy agreed with me on this one (trust me, they were expecting her to be dead... and wish granted!!)Well, I meant... it was Pat's fault for recklessly running out like that.
